Fermented Fodder

Rena Farm Silage

5-ingredient blend · Pit-fermented · Year-round

Our silage is a precisely formulated, high-energy fermented fodder blend. Each ingredient is harvested and prepared at its optimal stage before being mixed at controlled ratios and packed for fermentation. Stored in pit-fermented silage (recommended) or big plastic sacks.

Ideal for dairy cows, beef cattle, sheep, and goats — ensuring optimal growth, sustained milk production, and body condition all year round.

Silage Composition

Young green/yellow maize stalks with cobs — harvested while still green and almost mature for peak energy content
Super Napier — Pakchong 1 — harvested young before stalks form, when nutrients are most concentrated in the leaves
Lucern (Alfalfa) — dried for 5–7 days then ground to near-fine powder for high protein content
Beans stalks (dry, ground to near-fine powder) — added fibre and minerals
Molasses (mixed with water to a runny liquid) — fermentation aid, energy boost, improves palatability

All ingredients are mixed at specific ratios before packaging for fermentation. The mixture is tightly compressed when packaging to avoid having air, since air causes decomposition. Contact us for mixture proportions.

Machine baled · Delivery available

We produce four types of hay, all harvested at the optimal growth stage for maximum nutritional value and palatability.

Boma Rhodes Grass Hay

Widely regarded as East Africa's finest perennial pasture grass — prized for high dry matter yield, excellent palatability, and suitability for baling. Our automatic baling machine produces consistent, tightly bound bales, and our 12-tonne lorry is available for bulk deliveries.

Beans Stalk Hay

Dried bean stalks baled into hay — a good source of fibre and minerals, commonly used as a supplement alongside other feeds.

Natural Grass Hay

Harvested from natural pastures and sun-dried to produce palatable, affordable hay suitable for a wide range of livestock.

Brachiaria Grass Hay

High-yielding and nutritious, Brachiaria is well-adapted to the Kajiado climate and produces quality hay bales with good palatability and dry matter content.

Pakchong 1 — Super Napier

A Thailand-developed super Napier variety known for exceptionally high yields, fast regrowth after cutting, and superior nutritional content. Our most productive variety per acre.

Jancao — Hybrid Napier

A hybrid Napier bred for outstanding biomass production and very high palatability. Animals are particularly fond of Jancao's tender stems and leafy growth.

Bracharia — thriving in Kajiado's semi-arid conditions

Fresh Grass

Bracharia Grass

2 acres rain-fed · Drought-tolerant perennial

Bracharia is a highly productive tropical grass known for its exceptional drought tolerance and persistence in semi-arid conditions — perfectly suited to Kajiado's climate. It provides a good energy base, is very palatable, and works well for both grazing and cut-and-carry systems.

From Field to Feed

Every step of our fodder production is controlled on-farm — from seed and soil preparation to harvest, processing, and delivery.

1
Land Preparation
Fields are ploughed, harrowed, and levelled. Drip irrigation lines are installed for the 6 irrigated acres of Napier and Lucerne.
2
Planting & Establishment
Seeds and cuttings planted at optimal spacing. Soil amendments and fertiliser applied for maximum yields and quality.
3
Growth & Monitoring
Crops are monitored regularly for pests, nutrient deficiency, and water stress. Irrigated plots watered on a controlled schedule.
4
Harvesting
Cut at the optimal nutritional stage. Boma Rhodes is baled using our automatic baling machine for uniform, dry, tightly-bound bales.
5
Silage Making
Ingredients are individually prepared — maize harvested green with cobs, Napier cut young, Lucerne dried and ground, bean stalks ground to powder, molasses diluted with water — then blended at set ratios and packed into pits or plastic sacks for fermentation.
